Review

Wiz: I’m surprised the radio didn’t start playing Leo Sayer when we drove through Innisbrook's front gate.  The exterior of the lodges have a dated 70's look.  I kept waiting for Mike and Carol Brady to come running out to welcome us.  The hallways contained a thrilling musk of mold and urine smells.  Luckily, the room contained less olfactory stimulation.  It was fairly spacious and well appointed.  Kitchenette, dining area and nice bed linens.

10kk: You need to think Carol Brady with really good taste on the outside of the buildings and some of the largest suites you have ever stayed in on the inside.  This resort is one of the best golf values in America-Period.  You forget that the greatest golf resorts in Florida are all dated.  If you like Sawgrass and Doral you will feel right at home here.  All three are dated and smell like a combination of octogenarians and swamp water. It's classic Florida ambiance.

Wiz: While Copperhead was nice and is the notable draw of Innisbrook, I thought the North course was more interesting.  A snoozing 10' gator on the 3rd tee box, exotic birds and miscellaneous “survival of the fittest” commotion in the woods made it seem like an African safari.  1000% humidity completed the picture.  If you value your appendages, I would not search for wayward balls.  All of the courses were in great shape.

Wiz: Interiors of the Common buildings had an upscale, newly renovated look. I thought the Turnberry Pub would be our primary evening hangout until I found that they lock the doors at 6pm.  The Osprey Sports Bar seems to be the main night spot.  Night one had a cover band that would play all of your favorites as long as they were by SRV.  Night two had an acoustic duo that thought Eagles ballads were up tempo rock.  I caught myself wishing The Captain and Tennille would show up to liven up the ambiance.

Wiz: Shuttle service is available to move you about the property.  My clubs were always at the correct course waiting for me.  Willingness to play in the sauna like shoulder season resulted in an incredible deal.

Wiz: A pilgrimage to the Hard Rock Casino is well worth the trip for the gambling crowd.  All of the popular Vegas games minus roulette and craps are available.  $5-$25 table were plentiful.  Council Oak is the marquee restaurant.  Great steaks with the associated high end steak house pricing.  With a more casual ambiance than the dining room and available bar menu (i.e. cheaper), the lounge is a fun choice.  A mother, father, son trio with piped in backing tracks added a nice airport Holiday Inn touch.

As with many casinos, smoking is permitted everywhere.  The superb bouquet of my $40 steak was augmented by a Dominican brush fire at the adjoining table.  For anyone with a CPAP machine, ode to Winston awaits your first night home.

Rooms were unique and well appointed.  The frosted glass toilet enclosure initially seems like a great architectural statement but, unless you posses the urine targeting ability of Stevie Wonder, you will wake your roommate during the inevitable midnight beer purge.

Wiz: On to 10kk's primary focus.  Food.  The travel, exotic locations and fabulous golf are only a prelude to his main event.  Dinner.  Mystic Fish and the Casa Ludovico were fantastic.  Engaging, attentive servers and impeccable food.  Prices didn't seem to ruffle Budget Bob's fur but, the lack of Bud Light at Mystic Fish raised an eyebrow.  Even Buzz Kill had a dearth of criticism.  A snack stop at the original Hooters was what you would expect-an old Hooters (although, it was stocked with young hooters).  Even the waitresses' skimpy shorts couldn’t over shadow the rubbery wings.

Budget Bob: Buzz Kill and I did have some discussions on restaurant pricing and thought that an early dinner menu does not constitute value.  I think more than an eyebrow should be raised when a restaurant does not serve not only the top selling light beer but, the top selling beer in the US.  I did think the wings @ Hooters met their standards, it is Hooters after all.

Wiz:   The airport was convenient and well laid out.  Minimal security lines.

Having also played Innisbrook this past year, I can attest to the age of the buildings Etc. Now that you mention it, I agree with "the wiz" The whole place had a "Carol Brady" feel. That being said, all three courses were well worth playing and the place is a great value!
